Bill Reed, Founder
Mr. Reed grew up living in an extended family with his 4 brothers, parents, grandmother, great grandmother, and sometimes his grandmother from his father’s side. This childhood experience has served him as a model for Elite Care’s Extended Family Residences™.
Mr. Reed has purchased and rehabilitated, over 200 houses to sell or rent in Portland’s impacted neighborhoods. Mr. Reed has also been involved in the new construction arena, and built extremely energy efficient duplexes, triplexes and fourplexes. Over 60 properties with over 300 units are still under ownership and managed by WCR Company, their property management company, whose vacancy rate is always several points below the city’s average. Included in this concept were the “Quints” – 5 Bedroom, 5 Bathroom homes that were specifically designed for group halfway style living, and those buildings were subsequently leased to hospitals and non-profit organizations looking to move away from traditional homes that did not serve their needs. Some of the renters have now occupied these units for over 15 years.
Mr. Reed also constructed a 63 unit residential with 19,000 s.f. commercial space building, located in the heart of Portland’s Northeast Urban Center. This building was the first mixed-use project to land in the Northeast area. It has served as a model for mixed use living and is being emulated by other developers in the area.
Since 1999 Bill has devoted his energy to creating Elite Care Corporation and Elite Care Technologies LLC, receiving national recognition and awards for its forward thinking design and environment.
Lydia Lundberg, Founder
Born and raised in Nuremberg, Germany, Ms. Lundberg immigrated to Oregon in 1971. Her first job after immigrating to the US was as a nurse’s aide where she created her dream for elder housing that meets not only the elder’s physical needs but also their social and spiritual needs. Working her way from a nurse’s aide to west coast manager of a major crane manufacturer, she changed her career to work closely with her new husband, Mr. Reed, in 1992. During this time she was instrumental in helping to organize the property management company, then in working closely with non-profit corporations and others to become one of Portland’s largest providers of housing for persons with special needs.
Ms. Lundberg has become a sought after speaker at various conferences to talk about building design, culture, and technologies that help preserve elder’s autonomy while living in a facility. She and Mr. Reed are recognized as experts in technology and aging. Ms. Lundberg sits on several advisory boards. She is also a founding member and commissioner of CAST, Center for Aging Services Technology. In addition, she has presented in front of the Senate Special Committee on Aging, the United Nations, and was a delegate to the most recent White House Conference on Aging. Her work both within the United States, and overseas with the Brussels Circle Group has gained her and Elite Care national recognition and acceptance.
